Senior Services employees receive awards from Wyoming Public Transit Association

Marilyn Knapp of Hulett and Carole Maddox of Sundance received awards at the Annual Wyoming Public Transit Association, Inc. Conference in Sheridan, Wyoming. Knapp received Volunteer of the Year, and Maddox received Dispatcher of the Year.

Crook County Senior Services also nominated Amanda Garoutte for Driver of the Year and Jenny Perry for the Outstanding Service Award.

Knapp was an employee for Crook County Senior Services for 35 years until she retired. After retirement, she has volunteered to cover the days the head cook is out on ambulance calls and deliver meals. CCSS was very gracious to have Knapp rejoin the staff. Despite being on the team again, she insists on volunteering to deliver meals to our homebound clients.

Knapp is vital to the Hulett Community. She is the Hulett Civic Center Board President. The Hulett Civic Center houses the Hulett Senior Center.

Knapp helps with fundraising and grant applications to provide a better public facility for her community. She recently assisted CCSS with a grant to purchase a carport for a transportation van.

Knapp is also a very active member of her church. She volunteers with children's programs.

Maddox's talents help CCSS run smoothly. She's skilled in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office and organization.

Maddox can handle all situations professionally. She answers the phone cheerfully and can assist in all areas. Appointments and details are scheduled.

She's talented at honing in on needs during these conversations and referring to resources. Maddox has a big heart and doesn't want anyone forgotten.

Last year, Amanda Garoutte received the Wyoming Driver of the Year award at the same conference.

"CCSS is lucky to have such an amazing team. Our public transportation program has been averaging 527 trips a month this year," says Jenna Ellsbury, CCSS Director.

"The need for public transportation only increases as the price of fuel and expenses increase. We are having the busiest transportation year in CCSS history. It is nice to see the hard work of the CCSS staff get recognized on a state level. We are a small county and a small non-profit doing big things. We thank you, Crook County, for your support!"
