Fears of high water in Sundance were experienced a few hours Thursday night when a telephone message was received from E.A. Bock that large cloudburst had struck Warrens Peak at 7 o’ clock. Telephone messages were sent out from the local exchange to all who might be supposed to be in the path of the flood and where telephones failed auto messengers were used. Devils Tower was the scene Sunday of what is believed to be the largest crowd ever to attend the Northern Black Hills Pioneer picnic – 3500. Honored guests of the event were 70 former cowboys, all who rode the range in the area before 1890. Speakers for the day were William Henry Harrison, Sheridan, state representative, and Warren Morrell, Rapid City Journal columnist. A.W. Storm, president of the association, presided at the meeting.
