DTNHA Scholarship

First established in 1958, Devils Tower Natural History Association is a non-profit corporation chartered by the United States Congress, to aid the National Park Service with historical, educational and interpretive programs. Our mission is to promote understanding and conservation of the natural, cultural and historical resources of the nation’s first national monument through education, public information and service.

This year, DTNHA is offering a monetary, one-year scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00. Application forms may be obtained from school counselors or by contacting DTNHA at PO Box 37, Devils Tower, WY 82714, by calling 307-467-5283 x 631 or by email: [email protected].

Below are the qualifications for the scholarship:

• The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student in one of Crook County’s four high schools, to graduate in May with a GPA of at least 2.5.

• The applicant must plan to attend an accredited two-year college, four-year college or vocational/technical school. Proof of acceptance will be required prior to awarding monies.

• The awarded scholarship funds will be sent to the financial aid department of the prospective school.

• One letter of reference from a teacher, counselor or employer must accompany the application.

• The applicant will submit a 400-word essay addressing a topic related to Terry Tempest Williams’ book, The Hour of Land. Or, applicants may pick a topic pertaining to the First National Monument. More details will be provided on the application. The completed application form should be returned to DTNHA, P.O. Box 37, Devils Tower, WY 82714, postmarked no later than April 1, 2022.
