Lady Bulldogs take down Big Horn

With the season winding down, it was a light week for the Sundance Lady Bulldogs basketball team, competing in only one conference game this past week. Going up against the Big Horn Rams for the third time this season, the Lady Bulldogs walked away with a commanding 51-36 conference victory.

It was the second quarter that proved to be the game changer for the Lady Bulldogs, who outscored the Lady Rams 20-7 and went into the halftime break with a 29-14 lead. The scoring for both teams played out very evenly throughout the second half but the Lady Rams were not able to overcome that second quarter deficit as the Sundance Lady Bulldogs took the conference victory.

Junior Zoe Skeens led the Bulldog charge, scoring 13 points throughout the night. Teammate Cana McInerney also put up double digits for the night with 11 points. McInerney and Brook Hofland helped to control the boards for the Lady Bulldogs, securing six rebounds each for the night.

The Lady Bulldogs improved their record to 12-7 overall and 6-1 in the conference. They will face the number one team in the conference, the Moorcroft Lady Wolves, on Friday night in Moorcroft and round out the regular season at home on Saturday as they host the Hulett Lady Red Devils.

Boys fall to Rams

The Sundance boys’ basketball team was on the road to face the Big Horn Rams once again, hoping for a different outcome. Playing on the Rams home court has always been a challenge and this game was no different.

The Rams jumped out to a quick 16-6 lead throughout the first quarter. The Bulldogs worked relentlessly throughout the next three quarters trying to close the gap, but the initial lead was too much for the Bulldogs to overcome and the Rams snatched another conference victory from the Bulldogs 65-57.

Despite the loss, the Sundance Bulldogs had a triple threat in scoring as three Bulldogs made their way into double digits. Gunner McLaughlin led the charge putting up 17 points on the night and fellow teammates Keaton Mills and Levi Rudloff were close behind adding 16 points each throughout the game.

The regular season is winding down for the Sundance Bulldogs, who are sitting at a 10-10 overall and 2-5 conference record. The Bulldogs will play their final regular season games this weekend as they travel to Moorcroft on Friday to face the 6-13 Wolves and host the 10-7 Hulett Red Devils on Saturday.
