School presents Christmas concert

The Sundance Junior High and High School band and choir will present a Christmas concert for the community this Monday, December 20, including a soup supper and all your favorite festive songs. The show will be under the direction of Teresa Preisner and accompanied by Susan Kostenbaer.

The soup supper will begin at 5 p.m., says Preisner, and is expected to continue until around 6.30 p.m. A small fee will be collected for the meal, which will include a bowl of soup, dessert and a drink.

“Live Christmas music will be provided during the meal by junior high and high school music students,” she says.

The concert itself begins at 7 p.m. with performances “Frosty the Snowman” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” from the Jazz Band, followed by a solo rendition of “Once Upon a December” by Telsie Comer.

The Men’s Choir will then perform “Little St. Nick”, followed by four songs from the combined choir: “Winter Wonderland”, “Go Tell it on the Mountain” (solo by Ella Bifulco), “Winter Dreams” and “Christmas Comes in About Three Minutes”.

The Show Choir will perform “All I Want For Christmas is You” with solos from Fosheim, McInerney, Aspen Jones, Jessie Niemeyer and Comer, followed by a piano solo from Neveah Idler.

Music from the Combined Band will include “Sleigh Ride”, “What Child is This”, “Adeste Fideles” and “Christmas with Carols”, as well as performances of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen from the HS saxophone section, “Jolly Old St. Nicholas” from the HS trumpet section, “Dona Nobis Pacem” from the HS oboe and bassoon section, “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” from the HS clarinet and flute sections and “Up On the House Top” from the HS low brass section.
