Donations welcomed for Christmas Baskets

For many years, the Christmas Basket program has provided a way for the community of Sundance to work together to make sure everyone enjoys the happy holidays they deserve. Once again, the program is asking for donations to make the magic happen.

Donations will be used to assist families within the community, making sure parents can dress their kids warmly and put food on the table and gifts under the tree. They will also go towards necessities for local seniors.

“Checks can be dropped off at the bank and made out to ‘Sundance Community Christmas basket’,” says Jamie Jessen, Sundance Chamber of Commerce.

Make a donation by dropping off your check at Sundance State Bank, made out to “Sundance Community Christmas Baskets.” Alternatively, you can visit Sundance Hardware to find the boot tree, where you can make donations of gifts.

More information can be obtained by calling Trudy Durfee at 290-0270 or Jamie Jessen at 605-431-6370.

If you would like to be a recipient of this year’s Christmas Baskets, you can get hold of an application form at the Department of Family Services or through the chamber’s website at sundancewyoming.com/events. Completed applications should either be returned to the DFS office or emailed to [email protected].

The application will ask for detailed information such as clothing sizes and allergies within the family. This is done because the volunteer shoppers will not know who they are shopping for, so will need certain details to ensure their purchases are appropriate.

Applications are needed by November 22 to make sure there’s enough time to fill your needs. They will be served on a greatest need basis.
