Veterans storytime at library next Wednesday

The general public is invited to a special storytime to honor our veterans on Wed., Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. The program is open to all ages, including adults, and is free of charge. Local veterans will be on hand to answer questions.

The featured story for the storytime will be the book “Cadence Counts with the Amazing C-130 Hercules”, co-written by Sundance native Gay Roberts Arnold and Sandra Breier. The authors will be present to read their book, with a book signing to follow.

The book explores the many ways the C-130 Hercules serves our country – transporting, weather reconnaissance, firefighting, search and rescue and more. It also introduces young readers to the rhythmic cadences used by the U.S. Military to foster feelings of pride, fellowship and common loyalty among those serving our country.

Through QR codes, an IOS/Android compatible counting game reinforces counting skills while an animated video of the cadence march encourages your child to move and march. A portion of the profits from this book will be donated to charitable organizations that support veterans.

Gay Roberts Arnold, the daughter of Alan and Cleo Roberts, grew up in Sundance and graduated from Sundance High School before going on to Bastyr University, where she earned a Master of Science degree. She is now an independent businesswoman and dyslexia advocate, her interests fostered by her family’s long tradition of entrepreneurship and education.
