Peek at the Past

Sundance Post No. 45, American Legion, is making plans for the observance of Armistice Day, Friday Nov. 11.There will be a novelty dance in the evening, preceded by a picture show of unusual merit. Supper for the dance will be served by the Ladies' Auxiliary at 50¢ per plate. When we stop to think what this day means to 2,000,000 of the flower of America's manhood, it is indeed time to celebrate the cessation of war's slaughter of human life. The day has been declared a legal holiday in many states, and is expected to observe it as such in Sundance this year.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Mauch moved in last week from Ridge, Montana and will occupy the Williamson Ranch southeast of town.

The boiler and other heavy machinery which was installed some years ago on the Shaeffer mining property in the Bear Lodge was brought down to Sundance Tuesday and will be taken to Spearfish for shipment to Denver. Tom and Dan Straight are doing the moving.

Contractors Everet and Osa Humphrey were busy the fore part of this week running new cement sidewalk fronting the Schloredt property on the highway in the southwest part of town. This eliminates one more sidewalk hazard in that section of town.

Representatives of all towns in Wyoming on U.S. 14 and 16 have been invited to attend a meeting in Gillette to discuss an improvement program for the two highways, M.O. Trego, president of the Sundance Commercial Club announced today. "There has been a noticeable trend during the past year of tourist bureaus routing travelers out of Wyoming because of the conditions of these two roads," Trego said.
