Golf in our schools

The kids of Sundance were treated to an introduction to the game of golf by a professional last week through a four-day program hosted by John Jambor, retired PGA professional golfer.

The purpose of the PE unit was for the kids to learn the skills of the game of golf. The Colorado PGA provided the instruction, equipment and transportation costs.

Golf in Schools is a flexible program that aims to accommodate the specific needs and desires of the schools. Participants take part in a certification process to ensure they are introduced to golf in an enjoyable manner while emphasizing the link between golf and life skills.

To do this, the instructor highlights a life lesson each day.

The fourth day involves a field trip to a nearby golf facility, where kids experience the various aspects of the game, such as chipping and full swing.

Sessions begin with "icebreaker" activities, followed by short discussions of golf concepts and demonstration of skills and activity-based learning.
