Public input requested for Sundance Revitalization Roadmap

Sundance is one of five communities in Wyoming to be chosen for a Wyoming Business Council grant to take part in the Revitalization Roadmap program.

The grant pays for the services of Ben Levenger with Downtown Redevelopment, with the overall idea to create a roadmap for the community so that, as Sundance develops, everyone involved knows where they are headed.

The Revitalization Roadmap involves four steps, the first of which is “destination discovery,” in which local stakeholders are brought together to develop a collective vision for their downtown. This is followed by an assessment of the current situation of downtown, such as public spaces, building conditions, business health and community character.

Next up is public input, which will be achieved through methods including surveys, open house meetings and stakeholder meetings. Finally, the map will be created, including strategic recommendations for initiatives, tasks and policy suggestions.

Th entire process is expected to be complete within three to four months and has already begun here in Sundance. A site visit will take place next week, which will include tours of the downtown area, meetings and many opportunities for the community to have its say.

The Sundance Chamber of Commerce, Sundance Economic Development Task Force and City of Sundance are asking the community to assist by completing the survey at https://tinyurl.com/SundanceRR or by picking up a hard copy at City Hall or Sundance State Bank.

Members of the public are also encouraged to attend one of the upcoming sessions to share input: between 10 a.m. and noon on October 13 for the Stakeholder Group Discussions, 1 and 3 p.m. for one-on-one meetings with business and community members or 6 to 8 p.m. for the public input meeting.

The next day, October 14, opportunities include one-on-one meetings (at your location by RSVP) from 8 to 11 a.m. or the hands-on development readiness initiative training from 4 to 7 p.m.

All sessions will be held at the Sundance State Bank Community Meeting Room (except the one-on-one meetings available at your location.)

The final report is expected on November 19.
