Commission sets annual mill levies

The number of mills to be levied in this county has not changed this year, though the county’s valuation has once again slightly increased. This, said County Assessor Theresa Curren on Monday, is why the amount each entity will receive this fiscal year has gone up.

This year’s valuation, as fixed by the state board, is $220,612,930. This compares to a valuation of $214,543,363 in 2020 and $201,069,634 in 2019.

“It’s just a little bit higher because of the amount collected,” Curren told the county commissioners as she presented this year’s property tax levy request for their approval.
