Library to present Hemingway performance

Crook County Library presents “Ernest Hemingway & Wyoming”, a program by Charles Fournier in Sundance on Friday, July 23. This program is free to all and will be held at the library meeting room at 7 p.m.

Author and persona Ernest Hemingway fell in love with Wyoming for the reasons most people fall in love with Wyoming: the hunting, the fishing and the people – who were few but of high quality. This presentation will look at Hemingway’s relationship to Wyoming and how his love for our state found its way into his literature.

Charles Fournier is a podcaster, writer and teacher. He earned his Masters Degree in Literature from UW where he focused on Ernest Hemingway’s writing and his construction of persona. Charles’ work has appeared in academic journals and at a handful of international literary conferences.

He has also been a reference and speaker for the One Book Wyoming Celebration of Hemingway’s In Our Time. His favorite Hemingway quote, currently, is from the short story “Indian Camp”: “In the early morning on the lake sitting in the stern of the boat with his father rowing, he felt quite sure that he would never die.”
