Shrine Bowl kicks off this weekend

Gillespie and Kruger to play in annual all-star game

The annual Wyoming Shrine Bowl will kick off in Casper on Saturday, giving spectators a look at Wyoming’s top football athletes from around the state. Sundance/Upton standouts Wyatt Gillespie and Brad Kruger will play on the North squad coached by Matt McFadden of Cody. Trent Pikula, Kirk McLaughlin, Larry Yeradi, Zeb Hagen and Jim Talich will all serve on the coaching staff.

The 48th annual event gets underway this year with a free pancake breakfast from the Kiwanis club at City Park in front of the Elks Lodge at 8a.m. A parade around City Park is scheduled for 10 a.m. and will feature all participants from both squads, Shriner vehicles, clowns, etc.

A tailgate party starts at noon with a concession stand offering burgers & hot dogs and a food. Player introductions start at 1 p.m. at Dick Cheney Alumni Field and kickoff is at 2 p.m.
