Old Stoney hosting annual art auction

Another opportunity to own a locally created piece of art and support your local cultural center at the same time is just around the corner. The annual Old Stoney Art Auction is scheduled for June 5, and this year it will be taking place inside the historic building itself.

Due to the renovation process, the auction has been hosted in a tent outside Old Stoney for the last few years. However, says Museum Director Rocky Courchaine, this year’s attendees can expect the same food, wine and fun under the building’s own roof.

The evening will kick off with tours of the now-open museum, says Courchaine, and will also include an open bar and hors d’oeuvres, as well as the brown bag auction and the art sale itself. Artists confirmed to have made donations so far include Judy Hamm, Larry Kellogg, Gisele Robinson and Sarah Rogers.

While the lower two levels of Old Stoney are both now open for business, housing the museum as well as archival storage and office space, the top level is still in need of renovation. The auction will specifically aim to raise money for this second phase of the project, which will include a makeover for the old school auditorium.
