Teacher of the year revealed

Crook County School District has announced that this year’s recipient of its Teacher of the Year award will be Mrs. Tina Inghram, second grade. Inghram has spent a quarter of a century educating kids, with the last 15 of those at Sundance Elementary and 21 as an educator in Wyoming.

Mrs. Inghram began her career teaching students as a paraprofessional in special education while pursuing her education credential. She earned her first degree, a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Maryland, Asian Division.

Inghram began taking education courses through the University of Maryland and subsequently completed her teacher education coursework and student teaching through the University of Southern Colorado. She has also attained a Master of Science in curriculum and instruction with a reading specialization from Black Hills State University.

“Tina is an effective educator who creates a caring and dynamic classroom environment where students are encouraged to take risks, question, collaborate and employ problem solving skills across curriculum areas. She remains current on the best practices in education through on-going professional development,” states the press release announcing the award.

“She also mentors student teachers and supports educators in her school and district as an instructional facilitator. In addition to her educational and professional experiences, Tina attributes her continued passion for teaching to each one of the students she has educated throughout the years.”

Mrs. Inghram will represent Crook County School District as she moves on to the state-level competition and vies for the title of Wyoming Teacher of the Year.

She was joined on the shortlist this year by two of her fellow Sundance Elementary teachers, Angie Butts and Kim Eymer, as well as Jenna Thomas, Sharon Bailey and Dawn Anderson of the Moorcroft K-8, Lona Tracy of Moorcroft High School and Lila Kennah of the Hulett School.

“Crook County School District is blessed to have numerous talented and dedicated staff in the district and we appreciate each and every one of them,” states the press release.
