Why?

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance. ~ Ps. 42:5

Why? This small word is reasonable and searching. Often asked, demanding much and seldom satisfying. We wonder “why” and when not understood, we tend to substitute “whatever” and discover that won’t work. Why can produce the correct solution, although when that occurs, we still have the ability to accept or deny that which will complete the peace the soul is desiring. God alone is the One answer to the ultimate why. All other inquiries are endless wants.

Why can offer coherence to living that humanity is searching for and many ignore. It’s not so much a desertion, as you cannot claim that which you’ve never had. It is more of a denial without the realization of what is not acceptable. It is the appropriate and fulfilling answer to everyone’s question. Why? God knows the beginning from the end. Unless we trust Him, our view of reality will be fragmented.

Why should we be concerned about God? He is the organizer in the immensity of the world’s position apart from Christ. The answer to the crying of our heart and the mending of our soul. It is the revealing of the much more as we settle for so little. Why is God’s understanding and insight into Who he is and what we are meant to be.

Why care? When you start to add God’s words to your why’s the searching is soothing, and the answers become more complete. Not complete in the sense that they meet what you desire, but whole with the realization that more is involved to the living then what is visible. The why is a good question and builds on itself as we individually understand (piece together) that which is called our life.

Why is this one word relevant? It often comes coupled with what and Who. This provides the revelation of who Christ is, the relationship that develops and reveals your responsibility. It is love bonded in the context of reality and the simplicity of good and evil. The whole that comes together from the initial why that specifically addresses: Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going? Why is God the only answer that satisfies the soul? He alone is the expectation that mends our brokenness with the provision of hope in God.

“LORD, help me with answers you give to me and apply the eternal hope through the love you have shown me.”
