Ed Thomas received painful injuries Sunday in a collision with Gaylord Zane on the baseball diamond. Some of the ligaments were torn loose at the knee and he will be lame for some time. Gaylord was badly bruised in the face.

The Army deserters who escaped from the Crook County jail last Thursday did not get far. They stole a car belonging to J.W.Zane, but being unfamiliar with roads, they circled and finally ran out of gas six miles north of Hulett. Earl Foulk was apprehended by Sheriff Hurtt and brought here Saturday. Guards arrived the same day from Camp Dodge and took Foulk back. The other, Joe Tarrington, apparently has made a getaway for the present, as he procured a horse and headed into Montana.

Because of the statement attributed to a trapper from the state game and fish department that he was in Crook County with orders to take 400 or all of the beaver in the Bear Lodge area, sportsmen of Crook county, meeting at the city hall in Sundance Monday night, made vigorous protest against any such action being taken. A thorough discussion was held on the subject with sportsmen thoroughly expressing their views on the subject and game wardens explaining their views on the subject and explaining that there was a program on in the area for the trapping of beaver but that it was in line with game conservation practices. They assured all those present that it was not the policy to take all the beaver or seriously deplete the beaver population in the Bear Lodge.

Gov. Lester C. Hunt announced last week that he has issued a call for the Wyoming legislature to meet in special session April 15. In his proclamation, the governor listed as purposes for the special session: 1. To provide adequate temporary housing for veterans who are attending and will attend the University of Wyoming and to appropriate money to increase salaries and employ additional instructors at the university. 2. To make such other appropriations as are deemed urgent and necessary for departments of state government.
