Sundance applies for CARES Act funding

The Sundance City Council convened via online meeting on Monday evening with a single purpose in mind: to approve the mayor’s signature on a grant application to the State Lands and Investments Board (SLIB) for $25,000.

SLIB administers applications for CARES Act funding, for which any state entity can make a request as long as it meets the established criteria. The application must be related to the pandemic and must involve costs that can be demonstrably tied to expenses incurred in dealing with combatting the virus.

Sundance’s grant application is for two ozone generators.

“In addition to that, I also have two laptops for displacement of any employees that have to work at home, with a portable printer,” said Clerk Treasurer Kathy Lenz, who prepared the application.

“I have a thermometer that will read people from a distance and also a backpack sprayer that will sanitize areas like, say, the landfill.”

The council approved the mayor’s signature on the application, which will now be sent to SLIB in time for the board’s next meeting.
