Lady Bulldogs see more wins

The Sundance volleyball team picked up a few more wins this week as they hosted the Hulett Lady Red Devils and the Tongue River Lady Eagles. Opening up play against the intra-county rival Red Devils on Thursday, the Bulldogs showed off their hot hand for serving as well as their continued dominance at the net.

The first game started out with a back and forth of points, both sides looking to get themselves set on the floor. It was Sundance, however, who figured it out first. As Ty Holloman got the Bulldog offense going, serving 12 straight points. She, however, did not do it alone. With the help of Cana McInerney and Aftyn Marchant popping up 8 digs each and Sherri Negaard throwing down 9 kills for the night, the Bulldogs ran away with a 25-9 victory in game one.

Game two continued to see excellent serving and teamwork as Baillee Heaster and Cana McInerney kept the offense rolling, serving four consecutive points each. The Red Devils did put a few more points on the board as they started to figure out their spots on the floor, but it still wasn’t enough to overtake the dominance of the Bulldogs. Sundance pulled out another victory in game two, 25-17.

The Lady Red Devils were determined in game three as they began to find their stride behind some hard hitting of Cassie Vito and Kaydence Westover however the Bulldogs front row came up with 12 big blocks for the night which helped them to walk away with another victory in game three, 25-11.

Saturday afternoon brought the Tongue River Lady Eagles to town but a great effort by the Bulldog backrow, sent them home after three games as well. Game one was close as both teams were trying to figure each other out and string some points together.

It was Bulldog hitters Sherri Negaard and Ty Holloman who were able to help the Bulldogs put more points on the board, in a 25-20 victory for game one. “We had fun adjusting to some good hits over and around the block from TR,” Coach Blaczyk said.

Game two found the Bulldogs picking up right where they left off. As the Lady Eagles front row was throwing them down, the Lady Bulldogs back row were popping them right back up.

“Our back row did a great job reading the hitter and covered major ground,” stated Coach Blaczyk. Nevada Gill led the team with 11 digs on the night to help the Bulldogs in a 25-16 victory in game two.

The Lady Eagles didn’t fare much better in game three as the Lady Bulldogs continued to feed off each other and put the points on the board. Walking away with the 25-21 victory in game three, the Bulldogs improved their overall record to 9-1, and 2-0 in the conference.

“I am super proud of how well they worked together during the games this week.” stated Coach Blaczyk.

The Lady Bulldogs will have a busy week on the road this week. They will travel to Moorcroft to face the Lady Wolves on Tuesday, head to Newcastle to play against the Dogies on Friday and up to Big Horn to face off against the Rams on Saturday.
