Summer rec to go ahead

Summer fun starts soon for the kids of Sundance. With approval from Crook County Public Health, says Andrea Humphrey, the summer recreation program will be going ahead, with a few safety measures to keep everyone virus-free.

“We will have a hand washing and disinfecting station available and will adopt measures to minimize close contact. All balls and equipment will be sanitized prior to each class,” says Humphrey.

“Parents and other spectators will be encouraged to try to maintain the six-foot distance between themselves and other family groups or daycare groups present as much as possible.”

This year, t-ball for ages four and five and coach pitch t-ball for ages six to seven will run from May 28 to June 30 on the high school field between 1 and 2 p.m. Upper league baseball has yet to be announced.

Soccer will run from May 27 to June 24, again on the high school field, and will take place between 1 and 2 p.m. for kindergarten through third grade and 2 to 3 p.m. for fourth to seventh grades.

Basketball will be split into three age groups for hour-long sessions on July 9, 14, 16, 21 and 24 in the central gym. Kindergarten through second grade will begin at 1 p.m., third through fifth grade at 2 p.m. and sixth through ninth at 3 p.m.

The same structure will be used for volleyball on June 1 through 29, again in the central gym. Kindergarten through second will again start at 1 p.m., third through fifth grade at 2 p.m. and sixth through ninth grade at 3 p.m.

Arts and crafts will be offered to first through seventh grades on June 29 and 30 and July 1, 2 and 6 to 9. Classes will run from 9 to 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. and will take place at 222 Canyon Road on a first come, first serve basis. Please register by June 3 so supplies can be ordered.
