High-flying salute

National Guard to salute our hospitals Friday

Cast your eyes to the skies on Friday, when the Wyoming Air National Guard’s 153rd Airlift Wing will pass over during an aerial salute to healthcare professionals on the frontlines in the COVID-19 pandemic.

A two-ship C-130 flyover will cross the skies above every hospital in the state, beginning in Niobrara County and ending in Cheyenne. Crook County Memorial Hospital is the third stop along the route; the planes are expected to come in from the direction of Newcastle and arrive here at 10:05 a.m.

From Crook County, the C-130s will head for Campbell County and onwards to Johnson.

“We salute all those, both around the state of Wyoming and across the nation who have sacrificed so much to serve on the frontlines of this pandemic,” said Col. Justin Walrath, 153rd Airlift Wing commander and pilot.

“It’s truly an honor for the men and women of the Wyoming Air National Guard to provide a ‘thank you’ to the first responders, medical professionals and essential personnel providing support at this time.”
