February 18, 1920

Word has just been received that the engine and the remainder of the commercial club’s moving picture equipment have arrived at Upton and will be installed at the hall here at once and that it may be announced with practical certainty that the first shows will be put on Friday and Saturday nights of next week with probably a matinee on Saturday.

The social function for Washington’s birthday here this year will be a big dance next Monday night under the auspices of the commercial club. A general and cordial invitation goes out.

February 15, 1945

Definite arrangements for the erection of a permanent honor roll memorial which is to be placed in the courthouse block in Sundance have been completed by the American Legion Posts Nos. 45 and 80 of Sundance and Hulett and their auxiliaries. This will fill a long-felt need for a fitting tribute to the men and women of Crook County who are serving their country in this war. Names of four hundred and fifty-nine registered and enlisted Crook county men and women have been reported to the manufacturers of the roll to date. Native stone will form the memorial which will be built as soon as weather conditions permit.

February 19, 1970

Small Homes CO., Sundance is closing in on completion of Dr. Gilbert Vondriska’s new dental clinic in east Sundance. The new clinic will join the complex which includes Crook County Memorial Hospital and the Sundance Medical Center. Harold Bernd said the completion of the clinic is scheduled for late March.

While several other counties in Wyoming have come up with many intriguing combinations of letters and numbers on the state’s new license plates, only two such plates have been ordered in Crook County according to County Treasurer Karen Glover. Mrs. Glover said prestige plate combinations in the county are MOT1 for M.O. Trego, Sundance and BRAD for Harold Braden, Green River.

The cast has been selected for “The Whales of August”, a two–act play by David Berry. The play centers around three women and two men who are attempting to deal with old age. The cast are: Gene Meier, who plays the part of Nicholas Maranov; Sheri Kaehne, who portrays Letitia Benson; Joe Grossi plays the part of Joshua Brackett; Shelia Christoph, who portrays Elizabeth Mae Strong; and in the leading role is Dorothy Greenwood, who is Sarah Louise Logan Webber.
