Crook County man charged with child abuse

Crook County resident Ricky Dean Wilmore faces two felony counts of child abuse after allegedly causing physical injury to a child that was not the result of reasonable corporal punishment.

On January 24 at 9 p.m., a Crook County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a report from the Department of Family Services of a possible case of child abuse involving a child with multiple bruises on various parts of their body.

The deputy observed the bruising on the child and noted that the bruising was of various colors, indicating they were not caused during a single event.

The child was placed in protective custody by the Department of Family Services. Their injuries were documented and an interview was conducted.

Based on witness statements, the evidence of the bruising and the child’s claim that Wilmore caused the injuries, Wilmore was placed under arrest. He has been charged with two counts of child abuse, a felony with a maximum penalty of ten years’ incarceration, a $10,000 fine or both.
