Local authors host book signing

If you’re seeking a meaningful gift for the holidays or a treat for your own enjoyment, you may be interested to attend an event next weekend that will showcase some of northeast Wyoming’s enviable literary talent.

The Bearlodge Writers will be hosting an event from 4-7 p.m. on December 4 at the Longhorn Saloon & Grill on Main Street in Sundance. This gathering is an opportunity for you to meet five local authors and snag a signature for your favorite of their books.

The authors in attendance will include:

Constance Brewer

Constance Brewer was born and raised in upstate New York. She joined the military and served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, an experience she describes as alternately building and blowing up things for her country. Retiring as a captain, she is now a writer, poet and artist whose genres include fantasy, space opera and essays. Her hobbies include weaving, printmaking and using her karate expertise to correctly injure her fictional characters. Brewer is also the co-editor of poetry magazine “Gyroscope Review”.

Patricia Frolander

Patricia Frolander, Wyoming’s fifth Poet Laureate, lives in the Black Hills on her husband’s fifth-generation ranch. She has garnered the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum’s coveted Wrangler Award, Willa Cather Award and High Plains Book Awards among others. Patricia has performed at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering the past two years and will perform again this January, 2020. Her fourth collection of poems will be published this spring.

K.D. Gearhart

Kathy “K.D.” Gearhart grew up on a ranch south of Sundance, Wyoming with Sundance Mountain, the Black Buttes, O’Haver Hill and Inyan Kara Mountain as her playground. Now retired and living just across the Wyoming border in Spearfish, South Dakota, she draws inspiration for her suspense novels from driving the back roads of the Wyoming and South Dakota Black Hills. “Pewter Creek Mountain”, a Colorado suspense, is her debut book.

Viktoriia Peterson

Viktoriia Peterson hails from Ukraine. She moved to Sundance in 2014, where she is practices reflexology and massage therapy. Her pastimes include gardening, hiking, camping and exploring her creativity in this area’s natural surrounds. Her first book, “Lisa and the Bears” was published in 2018 and includes her original artwork in a fanciful tale inspired by her personal love of the outdoors. Since then, she has also published two additional books aimed at younger readers – “A Devils Tower Secret” and “Eagle Feather” – and is working on a historical novel about her grandmother and an adult horror thriller titled “Gnome from the Planet Sirius”.

Nicholas Trandahl

Nicholas Trandahl is an Army veteran, author, outdoorsman, journalist and traveler. A member of WyoPoets, Wyoming Writers and the Bearlodge Writers, he finds inspiration in new adventures, nature, books, good food and the understated beauty of everyday life. Trandahl lives in Wyoming with his wife and daughters. He is published by Winter Goose Publishing, and his poems have also appeared in various journals, anthologies and compilations. He was the recipient of the 2019 Wyoming Writers Milestone Award.
