Ask Game and Fish

Q: “I understand the Wyoming Game and Fish Department is no longer printing paper conservation stamps next year. What do I need to know about this change?”

A: Yes, beginning in January of 2020, the Game and Fish is no longer printing a paper version of the conservation stamp. The 2020 printed stamp will be known as the “Collectible Conservation Stamp.” This collectible stamp will have no legal authority for hunting and fishing licensing requirements.

However, Game and Fish still requires a conservation stamp for anyone in the field, per licensing requirements. In 2020, this field-valid conservation stamp will only be offered as digital/electronic and will be sold only through Game and Fish license selling agents and the Game and Fish licensing website for $12.50.

The 2020 Collectible Conservation Stamp featuring the Colorado River Cutthroat Trout will go on sale at the beginning of January for $20. The Gift Shop will still help collectors buy Collectible Conservation Stamps with their desired “stamp number” and will still offer a limited number of artists-signed stamps.

There will be a limited quantity of these collectible stamps printed, and they will only be available while supplies last, making them rare and unique stamps for collectors.
