Richards places in dog shows

Tairyn Richards, high school senior in Sundance, attended the 2019 Golden Retriever Club of America 80th Solid Gold National Specialty with her dog, Sully. They traveled to Ontario, CA, where the competition was held Oct. 18-27 at the Ontario Convention Center. The event was hosted by the Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles, Inc.

In the competition held Oct. 23-26, Tairyn and Sully placed fourth in Junior Showmanship and third in Amateur Owner Handler.

Earlier on Fri., Oct. 18, Tairyn and Sully competed in the Rapid City Kennel Club event held in Rapid City, SD. They received a second prize rosette in the Owner Handled Variety Group and a rosette for Reserve Best Junior Handler. Sully won Best of Breed and competed in the Sporting Group ring for Best in Show.

Tairyn, with her dogs Story and Sully, has also competed in AKC (American Kennel Club) and NADAC (North American Dog Agility Council agility courses) events in Bismarck, ND, Greeley, CO, Aurora, CO, Longmont, CO, Mitchell, NE, Casper, WY, Laramie, WY, Mitchel, SD and Billings, MT. Tairyn and her dogs have brought home many prizes and ribbons during these events.

Locally, Tairyn and her dogs have competed in the Dog Division during the Crook County Fair. This year she received the Top Dog Award with Sully. Tairyn has been in 4-H for nine years. Her journey with the dogs began long ago with Tammy Needham. Tairyn’s dedication, training, hard work and her love of Story and Sully led her to the enjoyment of showing golden retrievers.
