Two more wins for Lady Bulldogs

The Sundance Lady Bulldogs continued their winning on the court as they took on the Newcastle Doggies for the Homecoming festivities this past Friday. With a back and forth of points and lead changes in the first game, it came down to the wire.

With the score tied at 24, the Bulldogs were able to rally together for three more points to gain the 27-25 advantage over the Doggies.

The Bulldogs continued that excellent teamwork as they raced out to a 7-1 lead to start the second game. While the Doggies called a timeout in hopes to slow the Bulldog scoring, it was to no avail.

The Sundance team was spot on for their homecoming game. The tough Bulldog offense and quick hands and feet of their defense could not be stopped. The Bulldogs took game two with a score of 25-19.

Game three did not fare much better for the Newcastle Doggies as the Bulldogs continued to dominate the serves and the net. Jumping out to a 6-0 lead, the Bulldogs did not let up.

Newcastle tried, to no avail, to stop the Bulldog momentum, calling two timeouts, but the Bulldogs were on a roll. Sherry Negaard had a big night at the net, slamming down 16 kills for the Bulldogs, while Laney Dungey could not be stopped in the back row, coming up with 23 digs on the night. The Bulldogs went on to sweep the set against Newcastle with a final score of 25-6.

After their big win against Newcastle, the Sundance volleyball team came away with a good road win on Saturday over Powell, pushing it into five games.

Powell took game one with a score of 25-22, but the Bulldogs came up big in game two with a score of 25-16. Dropping game three with a repeat score of 22-25, the Bulldogs rallied to win games four and five to take the set 3 games to 2.

The Bulldogs recorded five service aces in the game. Sherry Negaard had two, while Aftyn Marchant, Teddi Marchant and Cana McInerney each contributed one untouched serve. Dungey and Aftyn Marchant also had a great night on defense for the Bulldogs as they each came up with 29 digs for the night.

With this win, the Bulldogs move to 17-5 on the season, 2-0 in the conference. They will have two games this week, hosting the Big Horn Rams on Friday and travelling to Lusk on Saturday.
