Sundance man killed in vehicle crash

Sundance resident Thomas E. Pickerd was the victim of a fatal vehicle crash on I-90 last week. The accident occurred on October 3 around milepost 201.

Around 3 p.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the area for a one-vehicle rollover.  A 1995 Ford Ranger was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90; for unknown reasons, the Ford exited the left side of the roadway before being over-corrected to the right and overturning.

The driver of the Ford was identified as Pickerd, a 60-year-old Sundance resident.  Pickerd was not wearing his seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.

Driver fatigue or inattention are being investigated as possible contributing factors.

This is the 124th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2019 compared to 88 in 2018, 109 in 2017, and 94 in 2016 to date.
