PRECorp Foundation hits $1M donation milestone

With a $5000 donation to Climb Wyoming, the Powder River Energy Foundation has now surpassed $1 million in donations to northeast Wyoming communities since it was established in 2007.

Climb Wyoming, a statewide nonprofit whose mission is for low-income single mothers to discover self-sufficiency through career training and placement, is honored to be selected as the recipient of the generous grant. The grant will help create brighter futures for struggling single mothers and their families in Gillette by funding comprehensive training sessions.

The program includes job training and placement in high-demand careers, individual and group therapy and life skills instruction including personal financial management and parenting skills.

“We are so grateful for the generous support of Powder River Energy Foundation,” said Dr. Ray Fleming Dinneen, Climb founder and executive director. “The need for Climb’s program in Gillette remains great with over 37 percent of single mothers with children under the age of 18 living below the poverty level in 2017. We appreciate that Powder River Energy Foundation recognizes this need and is able to generously support us through these gifts.”

The award is made possible in part by the PRECorp Operation RoundUp Program, fundraisers and large matching grants. When PRECorp consumer-members sign up for the Operation RoundUp, PRECorp rounds up their electric bill to the next dollar.

“This [$1 million total] is a major milestone for the Foundation, and we are very proud of the work we have done for northeast Wyoming the past dozen years,” said PRECorp Foundation Executive Director Jeff Bumgarner.

“We address the basic needs of our communities by feeding the hungry, supporting our veterans and giving a helping hand to families in crisis, the elderly, arts and education. The Foundation’s goal is simple: to provide financial and philanthropic support to organizations and causes that have a direct impact in our local communities. The impact of these donations will be felt by the hard-working consumer-members of PRECorp throughout northeast Wyoming.”

The Foundation focuses its giving to charitable organizations in Campbell, Crook, Johnson, Sheridan and Weston counties.
