Simple

I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. Romans 16:19

Simple is a good word and can take us far. In the context of Romans 16:19 it conveys the meaning of innocence, unmixed and pure as in wine or metal. This simple, pure innocence holds what is good and plainly see what is bad.

It is the result of the wisdom of good embracing the totality of evil. Life is straightforward if only we are sensible enough to realize that good and evil must be kept separate.

Simplicity (the return to innocence) begins with the repentance of our wrongs and the ensuing clear vision of God (unmixed without our considerations and opinions). The awareness that His wisdom has overcome evil through His will and promises establishes that good and bad cannot be simultaneously lived without turmoil.

Evil is attractive, pure in its own method, difficult to behold and destructive in nature. It has personal appeal, although when held and applied leaves hideous scars both inside and outside our lives. The clouding of good and evil is self-imposed and is a continual narrative of Satan.

Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God. 3 John 11

The Blood of Christ covers all sin, yet the Christian doesn’t see the blood, only the Lamb. This blameless understanding knows the perfect sacrifice and realizes the cost of goodness to cleanse (separate) what is wicked.

Jesus came to set the captives free. (Isaiah 61:1-3). The wisdom is in good as well as innocently viewing with unmixed and pure intentions what is evil. The concern is transferred when seen through the cross and the one who carried away all sin to the grave. He rose again as promised to a new life. Simply lived, God is good.
