Volunteers needed for new war memorial committee

Volunteers are needed from all parts of the county to serve on the reorganized Crook County Veterans’ Memorial Committee. The committee is responsible for reviewing applications for names that will be added to the memorial on the county courthouse lawn.

The committee vets the names submitted, which are then added to the memorial on an annual basis, usually in August.

The committee is reorganizing following the retirement of Earl Gray in May, when the county commissioners agreed to initiate a new committee to take the reins and continue with the care and maintenance of the memorial.

It is not necessary for applicants to be veterans in order to serve on the committee. Information will be posted on the county website for anyone who is interested.

If you would like to participate in the committee, contact Jill Mackey at the Crook County Library in Sundance via the address PO Box 910, addressed to “War Memorial Committee c/o Jill Mackey”.
