September 24, 1919

P.J. Scott had an experience with an unruly team in the mountains the other day which he will remember for a long time to come. He had already been kicked by one of the horses and was favoring one leg considerably as a result, and to satiate the determination of destruction, the team proceeded to string out the wagon and harness. Mr. Scott says he has dispensed with their services.

The H.S. boys and girls organized basket ball teams this week. Boys team: Captain, Ellis Sluss; Manager, Mr. Barnes; Secretary-Treasurer, Mrs. Miller; Coaches, Messrs. Barnes and Thomas. Girls team: Captain, Mildred Burke; Manager, Pollie Roberts; Secretary-Treasurer, Velda Sluss; Coach, Mrs. Fawkes. They are planning to rent a building in town and if the town will boost for them they will show you some fine games during the winter.

75 Years Ago

September 28, 1944

Leaving Wednesday to attend the University of Wyoming were Mildred Landers and John Trotter of Sundance and Betty Macy and Betty Waddell. Dorothy and Margaret Reynolds left last Thursday on their way to Minneapolis where they will enter the University of Minnesota.

S-Sgt. Vic Pattinson and his son, Jackie Pattinson, S 1-c, were in Sundance Thursday with Art Pattinson of Aladdin. Vic has been visiting this area while on furlough from his station at Memphis, Tenn. He had expected to leave this week until receiving a telegram from his son, whom he had not seen for six years, that he was arriving home on leave and Vic secured a five-day extension that he might stay for Jackie’s arrival.

Sgt. Eugene W. Guilford of the U.S. Marine corps was wounded in action August 21, 1944 in the performance of his duty, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Everett W. Guilford of Sundance were notified last week.

September 25, 1969

Bob Blakeman, a Moorcroft businessman since 1947, said Friday he had purchased the Self-Service Laundromat in Sundance from Rollie Hallinger. Blakeman owns a motel and laundromat in Moorcroft.

Fritz Chatfield, Sundance, was elected president of the Crook County Farm Bureau at the organization’s annual meeting in Sundance Saturday night. Other officers are Walter Gordon, vice president; Claudis Pearson, secretary-treasurer; and Peggy Nelson, women’s committee chairman.

September 29, 1994

Crook County Farm Bureau’s election of officers was held and after nominations the secretary was requested to cast a unanimous ballot for president - Richard Snider; vice president – Jw Nuckolls; secretary – Thea Nuckolls. Linda McCoy was elected treasurer and Margaret Moline – women’s committee chairman.

Navy Airman Apprentice Wade L. Hutchinson, son of Drew L. and Judy L. Hutchinson of Aladdin recently reported for duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington, homeported in Norfolk, VA.

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Thomas M. Wilson, son of Charles M. and Mary J. Wilson of Sundance, recently completed a six month deployment to the Persian Gulf, Western Pacific and Indian Oceans aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, homeported in Alameda, CA.
