Hulett shooting case still under review

No arrests have yet been made following a “suspicious shooting” that took place in Hulett at the end of August. The investigation is ongoing, says Louey Williams, Team Leader for the Northeast Enforcement Team of the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).

According to Williams, Hulett Police Department and the Crook County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to reports of a shooting in the Town of Hulett. The two departments requested DCI assistance on August 31 at around 1:30 a.m.

Agents were advised that a 20-year-old female was being transported to Rapid City via LifeFlight after suffering a gunshot wound to her right side.

According to Williams, agents from the Northeast Enforcement Team and Central Enforcement Team responded to the call. Several interviews were conducted, the crime scene was investigated and search warrants were executed.

“During subsequent interviews, all of the involved parties, including the victim, claimed the shooting was accidental and took place after a domestic argument,” says Williams.

“No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.”

Once the investigation has been concluded, says Williams, the results will be presented to the County Attorney’s Office for review. The County Attorney’s Office will determine whether any charges are to be brought in this case.
