Barnthouse has a special reason for his first trip to rally. He bought his bike in 2015 but has barely ridden it because his time was filled caring for his elderly father, who suffered with dementia and passed away last week. “The trip here was a spur-of-the-moment need to get out and have fun,” he says. “I cared for him all the way up to the last week of his life, when he was in the VA hospice because I couldn’t take care of him any more. This trip is a once-in-a-lifetime.”
