New grief group announces first meeting

A new grief group specifically for people who have lost a spouse will hold its first meeting at the Church of Christ on July 2 at 1 p.m., says Cheryl Wales. The group is intended as a forum for bereaved members of the community to provide support, comfort and practical advice to one another as they work through the grieving process together.

Wales encourages anyone who has lost a spouse to consider coming to the first meeting to see for themselves how the group will work and decide whether it could be a useful tool in their own situation. There will be no charge for the first session and attendees will not be obligated to continue as part of the group.

“There will be no commitment the first time,” Wales says.

Wales will act as a facilitator during the sessions, which will use materials by a renowned grief specialist to help members process their grief and assist those around them in doing the same. The group is open to anyone who has lost a spouse, no matter how long ago their loss occurred.

To submit your name or find out more about the group, call Wales at 290-0317 or simply attend the first meeting on July 2.
