June 4, 1919
Oscar Erickson was quite seriously injured by a horse at the Sewell ranch on Mason creek one day last week. He was trying out his new saddle, which turned and gave him a fall and the resultant mix-up will keep him pretty well confined for some days.
As evidence of the kind of cattle Crook County can produce it is pleasing to hear the report that A.H. Hewes, one of the county’s fullblood Hereford breeders, recently sold a young cow for $2000 and another for $1000 to a Pierre, S.D. man.

June 8, 1944
Thirty-five head of horses, including registered and grade thorobreds, will be sold at auction by Cliff Roberts of Hulett. These animals are part of his well-known string of race horses.
A special prayer and song service was held Tuesday evening at the Methodist church by Rev. Sanders B. Clayton of Sundance. Quite a large group of town and country people attended this special gathering, which was held on Invasion Day in accordance with request of Governor Hunt.
Buy until it hurts
As the Fifth War Loan drive opens June 12 it no doubt will receive added impetus from the Invasion which began early Tuesday morning, the largest scale operations in the history of warfare. No doubt there are a good many Crook County men taking part in these operations: men and boys we’ve known for years, perhaps our next door neighbor.

Two county girls last week filed their entries for the Miss Rodeo Crook County contest. The 1969 rodeo queen will be crowned June 14 at the Hulett rodeo. First contestant to enter was Wendy Courchaine, Beulah, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Courchaine. Linda McDonald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith McDonald, Aladdin, is the second to enter the competition.
Sgt. Leonard M. Schluening, a Hulett high school graduate, has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces in Vietnam. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Schleuning.

According to State Representative Marlene Simons there is a possibility that the fish hatchery at Ranch A may be closed. Simons calls the facility an asset to the community and said that she does not want that to happen. Simons said she has talked to Francis Petra, the Director of Wyoming Game and Fish and they expect a shortfall of $10 million in funds for the Game and Fish this year. As a result, they feel they must make some cuts and this is one of the budget cuts that have been recommended.
A picture perfect day greeted the 252 riders who participated in the Fifth Annual Bear Lodge Fat Tire Challenge which took place Sunday. Riders from Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Colorado, Texas and Missouri rode in the race which nearly one hundred more riders than last year’s race.
Mary Anne Robinson, Moorcroft , and LaDora McPeters, Casper, were members of a doubles team that won the Division II crown at the Women’s International Bowling Congress tournament in Salt Lake City.
