SHS Girls vs. TR: 34-26

The Sundance boys’ basketball team walked away with another win as they defeated the Tongue River Eagles on Friday, February 1.

Bulldog coach Nic Olson was very proud of his team as they left Dayton last Friday with a victory under their belt. The Bulldogs didn’t succumb to the pressure of the Tongue River press; instead, they were able to execute and score.

Coming out on offense the Bulldogs found the open spaces and put the points up on the board quickly. With an eight point lead at halftime, 34-26, the Bulldogs were just getting warmed up.

The second half saw a Bulldog team full of energy and hungry for a win. “Defensively it’s the best we’ve played all year,” Olson stated. “We were flying around, we had active hands, and our help defense was great. We were able to take them out of what they were trying to do offensively and convert it on our end.”

The Sundance Bulldogs had four players in double digit scoring. Lane Gill led the charge with 20 points, followed closely by Kye Taylor chipping in 11, Tanner Hofland and Wyatt Gillespie each adding 10. As a team, they pulled down 31 rebounds, 20 of which were defensive, and walked away with 14 steals on the night.

It was an all-around team effort as the Bulldogs were able to defeat the Eagles 62-44. The Bulldogs are hoping to take that momentum into their next game as they will face the ever-tough conference rival Wright on Thursday, February 7 in Wright, at 7 p.m.
