Busy week for Bulldog wrestlers

The Sundance wrestlers have been busy this past week wrestling in Wright in a five-team dual tournament, hosting a three team mixer and traveling to Newcastle for the Invitational. While on the mats in Wright, the Bulldogs, as a team were able to go 1-3, beating their regional foe, Saratoga.

The grapplers were back on the mats on Tuesday hosting a three team mixer with Belle Fourche and Hulett. Sundance fared well in the mixer, as many of the wrestlers were able to pick up at least one win on the night.

Myles Stefanich and Owen Haiar got their 13th wins on the season while Ben Tinsley, Titus Schelling and Gavin Robinson all moved up to win number nine. Through their hard work, the wrestlers went 11-6 in their total matches for the night.

There wasn't much time for celebration as the wrestlers travelled to Newcastle on Friday for the Dogie Invitational. The team placed tenth out of 15 teams with six top six finishers including one first place finisher.

Myles Stefanich took the championship at the 113 weight class, Owen Haiar placed 5th at 120 lbs, Titus Schelling came in 6th at 138 lbs, Josh Nehl finished 6th for the 170 lbs, Gavin Robinson took home a 4th place finish in 195 lbs and Dawson Flahaven came in 6th at 220 lbs. Others competing included 132lbs Ben Tinsley, 145lbs Oakley Viergets, 152lbs Payton Ewing, and 182lbs Leo Lyons. 

The grapplers will have an off week from competition this weekend but will get into it next week when they head to the always tough Belle Fourche Invitational on the 25th and 26th of January.
