Crook County Fair Board

January 7, 2019

Chairman Peggy Boardman called the regular board meeting of the Crook County Fair Board to order at 5:34 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Board members present: Peggy Boardman, Lonny Bossman, Justin Gerstner, Terri Johnson

Employees present: Carolyn Fowler, Jessica Weinand

Visitors: Ty Krell, Sara Fleenor, Kody Steinbrecher, Lynn Engels

Lonny moved to keep Lonny as Treasurer, Terri seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

Justin will be Secretary, Peggy will be Chairman, Terri will be Vice Chair. When the open seat is filled, that person will be Member.

Lonny moved to approve the agenda, Terri seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

Ty discussed the CCHA contract update. Their events will remain on the same day during fair.

Kody discussed maintenance on the big barn for riding. He gave suggestions for dust control. Discussion was held about non-scheduled riders being able to share time with other riders.

Lonny moved to approve the minutes December 3, 2018 meeting, Justin seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

Lonny gave the Treasurer’s Report.

Justin moved to pay bills, Terri seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

Carolyn gave the Secretary Report. Discussion was held about who to use for the fair concert.

Jessica gave the Maintenance Report.

Sara gave the Livestock Committee report. Weigh-in is set for January 20, from 1:00-1:30, with an alternate date of January 27 at the same time. Sara asked to use the pig barn for the farm school in the spring. The board agreed. The livestock camp in June will incorporate a bigger variety of animals.

Peggy gave the Awards Committee report. Terri will send letters to previous buckle donors to see if they will donate for the same buckle.

Old Business:

Policies and Procedures: Building rental will be $150 for a one day event with usage being from noon before the event to noon after the event. Each additional day will be $75 per day.

A bid request will be put in the paper to close in the fair office and loft area.

Storage shed: The commissioners agreed to let the board use insurance funds to replace the current storage shed with a metal storage shed. A used one has been found that is bigger and has electrical.

New Business: A monthly spending limit of $250 will be added to the maintenance description.

WJRA contract: Add that stalls must be cleaned prior to leaving, and add cleaning of stalls to cleaning deposit description.

Lonny moved to adjourn at 7:34 pm, Terri seconded, all ayes, motion carried.

The next meeting is scheduled for February 4, 2019 at 5:30 pm.
