Two names in the hat so far for council seat

Two candidates have already put their names forward to fill the open seat on the Sundance City Council and residents who are interested in serving have until the end of the year to submit their applications. The winner of the write-in vote, Todd Fritz, declined the nomination, which means the council must now select a new member through the appointment process.

The two current candidates, says Clerk Treasurer Kathy Lenz, are Marcy Havner and Randy Stevenson. These names will be reviewed by Mayor Paul Brooks prior to the January meeting of the council, when they will be presented to the rest of the governing body.

“Ultimately, the council votes it in,” says Lenz, explaining that the successful candidate will be asked to swear their oath and take their seat at the first meeting of the year.

Applications may be submitted at City Hall until December 31.
