    The Sundance track team crossed state lines last week as they competed in the Queen City Classic in Spearfish on Friday. The Queen City Classic is a meet that attracts many schools and the Bulldogs were up against some stiff competition.     Track season is underway for the Sundance Bulldogs. The team was able to catch an early meet last week as they participated in the Laura Chord Invitational in Newcastle on Thursday. Being one of the first meets of the season, there were a total of 15 teams participating. Despite the large number of participants, the Bulldogs were able to see success in multiple events.     Lexi Marchant, pictured with her mom and dad, Brian and Jerlyn Marchant, of Sundance High School was the 2024 winner of the Bob Carey Award given annually to one girls' basketball player from a 1A/2A school. The Carey Award was instituted in 1996 in honor of long-time Lander High School Coach Bob Carey. Coach Carey was the only coach in Wyoming to have won both a boys' and girls' State Championship in basketball. He was also instrumental in starting girls' basketball in the state of Wyoming.
