    This past weekend, the Bulldog wrestling team participated in the 22-team Belle Fourche Invitational. This tournament brings in most of the teams in Western South Dakota and Eastern Wyoming. Pacing the boys was Senior Karter Mayberry, who finished in fifth place with a 4-2 record, which included four first period pins. Sundance had no other placewinners. This is a tournament with an equal split of 4A, 3A and 2Aa teams mostly from the western side of the state.     SHS Girls The Lady Bulldogs crossed state lines last weekend to participate in the Stateline Shootout with Belle Fourche, Lead-Deadwood and Newcastle. In this competition, the four teams played a round-robin matchup. The Lady Bulldogs opened the Shootout with a 43-31 victory over the Newcastle Dogies on Thursday evening.     The Bulldog wrestlers opened their season at the Lusk Invitational this past weekend. Four Bulldog grapplers placed in the top five throughout the competition. Lyman Halverson and Shyla Shoun finished in third place. Halverson won with a 9-2 decision in the 120 weight class and Shoun took her victory with a fall over Hallie Fuller from Lingle-Fort Laramie in the 140 weight class.     Two Sundance Junior High wrestlers attended Wyoming Amateur Wrestling Association (WAWA) 2023 Middle School State competition in Green River on Dec. 10.     SHS Boys The Sundance boys’ basketball team opened their 2023-24 season in Upton this past weekend, taking part in the Upton Classic.     A new class that was introduced to Sundance High School this year has already seen one young lady take the title of being the first student official in Wyoming to put her new skill to use.
