  • Giant blizzard batters region

    Sarah Pridgeon|Dec 22, 2022

As much of the region braced under the impact of a storm so enormous that it eventually impacted most of the nation, some were left wondering what all the fuss was about – especially within the Sundance city limits. That was, until last week’s blizzard began to pick up pace again just as it was meant to be winding down. The storm itself was enormous enough to caused tornadoes in the south of the country and heavy snow further north at exactly the same time. By Friday, according to national news sources, at least 50 tornadoes had been sighted ac...

Crook County is among the locations where volunteers can help gather valuable data about such things as number of bird species and numbers of each species within set geographic areas on an early winter day. Birders of all...

  • Governor calls for property tax relief

    Sarah Pridgeon|Dec 22, 2022

Among the details added to Governor Mark Gordon’s budget proposal last week was a proposal to offer more property tax relief to the Wyoming residents most impacted by inflation: seniors and people living on fixed incomes. “As you know, inflation reached a 40-year high in 2022, resulting in sky-rocketing property values and significant increases and thus homeowners now are seeing higher bills for property taxes,” the governor wrote in a letter to the Joint Appropriations Committee. “Many Wyoming...

1 Years Ago December 21, 1922 Jesse Guidinger was over from Manhattan yesterday and reports that elk are fast cleaning up the crops on Williams Divide. The animals destroyed three wheat stacks for Williams Bros. and are now visiting the alfalfa and seed stocks every night in spite of repeated driving and scaring them away. It is high time the line was drawn between real game and a monstrous nuisance. Lawrence Good started this week on the ice harvest from Medicine Lake. The ice is of fine quality and there is any amount of it. Thomas...

  • This Side of the Pond

    Sarah Pridgeon|Dec 22, 2022

Since I wrote my column about the architectural prowess of King Charles, a few people have told me that he isn’t quite the person they always thought he was. This didn’t surprise me – on this side of the pond, he’s mainly known as the man who broke Princess Diana’s heart. But while the tale of Diana is a sad one, it’s not what defines him. To be clear, I was a huge fan of the princess – I almost even met her, when she flew to my home town by helicopter and spent a great deal of time speaking...

The Sundance Bulldogs were able to dig out of the snow and play one game of the Stateline Shootout on Friday. Rescheduling to just the varsity, the Bulldogs hosted the Newcastle Dogies. “The boys played well coming off a week of no practice,” commented head coach Nic Olson, “It took us a little bit to get into the game but overall I was happy with their performance after a long break.” Despite their slow start, the Bulldog defense fueled their offense. Keaton Mills led the charge with eight steals for the night and put up an impressive 36 poin...
