Jim Gordon, 51, died on November 5, 2018, at home in Tampa, Florida, after a year-long battle with metastatic melanoma. He was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, on August 12, 1967, to Walter James Gordon and Theo Jean (Umland) Gordon. We are pleased to announce that the Crook County Library has been selected as a hosting site for a national study that will begin early next year. Volunteers are needed to participate in a three month video-led fitness study conducted by the Geri-Fit Company. To qualify for the study, participants must be over the age of 65 and not be doing any kind of strength training exercises (walking, tai chi or yoga is ok). The Crook County Public Library System is sponsoring a contest for the design of a logo to be used on promotional materials, including the library website, pamphlets, flyers and the Library Bike coming in the spring. GILLETTE — A Gillette man’s appeal of his murder conviction has failed. In September 2017, Joseph Nielsen was convicted of abusing and killing his girlfriend’s three-year-old son, Caiden Fedora. In January, District Judge Michael N. “Nick” Deegan sentenced Nielsen to life in prison. Man fined $25,000 in grizzly shooting CODY (WNE) — While hunting for elk in October 2017 a Casper man encountered a much larger animal, in that of a sow grizzly bear. He will now pay a steep price for illegally shooting the bear – he was recently fined $25,500 in Park County Circuit Court.
