The Wyoming Game and Fish Department needs help from mule deer hunters this fall collecting lymph node samples for chronic wasting disease testing (CWD). Samples are requested from any mule deer harvested in the Black Hills (Hunt Areas 1-6). CWD is a fatal disease of the central nervous system in mule deer, white-tailed deer, elk and moose. Kathleen Ann Shamion passed away peacefully at her home in Sundance, Wyoming, on October 20, 2022, and went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, at the age of 82 years. Kathleen was happily married for 64 years to Robert John Shamion. They wed on August 16, 1958. Kathleen was born in Stambaugh, Michigan on April 6, 1940. The Bureau of Land Management has followed the lead of the county in lifting its fire restrictions on public lands in Crook County, as well as in Campbell, Converse, Platte and Sheridan counties. Boat ramp and aquatic invasive species inspection hours at both Glendo and Keyhole state parks are adjusting to accommodate the waning sunlight hours. Unemployment rate in Campbell County and state remains steady GILLETTE (WNE) — Campbell County’s unemployment rate remained unchanged from August to September, staying at 3.3%, which is in line with the state average. It’s the seventh highest unemployment rate in the state. GILLETTE —The number of fentanyl-related overdose deaths has steadily increased in Wyoming since 2017. The number of yearly deaths fluctuated prior to that, with up and down years since 2013, according to the Wyoming Department of Health.
