    To honor the 13 servicemen and women who were lost during the withdrawal from Afghanistan, including Rylee McCollum of Wyoming, the Pine Haven Days parade this year included a special element. Thirteen Corvettes were escorted by Sergeant First Class Pangus, Sergeant Abelseth and Staff Sergeant Boyd of the Wyoming National Guard, each one bearing the name of one of the lost soldiers.     A county man was arrested on Sunday after allegedly causing the death of his wife of 53 years. Edward Svoboda is believed to have struck his wife with a truck in the couple’s back yard. Three deputies from the Crook County Sheriff’s Office responded on September 5 to reports that Edward had driven his truck into the back yard and struck his wife. She was pronounced deceased when the Hulett ambulance arrived on scene. According to the incident report, deputies learned that Edward had driven to the neighbor’s house and asked for a ride,...

    Crook County Memorial Hospital is still dealing with high numbers of serious COVID-19 cases. Little has changed since a sudden influx of patients began arriving just over a week ago, according to CEO Micki Lyons of Crook County Medical Services District. “Things have not changed significantly since last week.     Sunday, September 5, 2021, John Edward Strong, loving husband and father passed away in Upton at the age of 59.  John was born April 30, 1962 to George and Alice Strong.  He was the youngest of ten children. John graduated from Upton High School in 1981. He married Laurie Boyles and to this union two children were born, Roberta Paulette and Tristan Lee. He was delivered by a midwife on December 6, 1937, to Theodore K. Glover and Bonnie Thelma (Etheridge) Glover. He was the oldest of seven children. Ted and Thelma later moved to Moorcroft, Wyoming and Kenny started his grade school there. They moved to Sunny Divide in the later grade school years, while Ted was building the Keyhole Reservoir.     Austin London faces charges of child abuse and possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent after allegedly physically assaulting a victim in their home near Sundance. A Crook County Sheriff’s Office deputy was called to a residence on August 14 at around 2:14 p.m. for reports of a man physically abusing the occupant, breaking their cell phone and threatening them with a gun.     An Iowa man has received a split sentence on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver after he and a companion were found to be transporting a significant quantity of marijuana products after being pulled over for speeding on Hwy 212. On December 17, 2020, at around 5:40 p.m., a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle observed to be speeding.     The U.S. Supreme Court has overturned the moratorium on tenant evictions that was announced by CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky a few weeks ago.
