RIVERTON — An exchange of gunfire Friday afternoon during a traffic stop left the driver of the stopped vehicle mortally shot and a Highway Patrol trooper wounded. The injured trooper was released from the hospital on Saturday and is expected to make a full recovery. GILLETTE — A cloud of dust kicked up as Cass Hurley shuffled down a small hill in the middle of the 320-acre ranch she and her husband operate off North Heptner Road in Rozet. It’s not far beyond where the county stops maintaining the road. The only problem with the scene was that, ideally, there would have been no dust. Off-duty firefighter gets teen out of burning house GILLETTE (WNE) – A local teen boy has a lot to be thankful for, especially an off-duty Campbell County firefighter who alerted him and got the teen out of a burning house Wednesday. No one was hurt in the afternoon fire at 1803 Plumcreek Ave., according to the Campbell County Fire Department. The teen and three other members of his family were displaced by the fire. Sherry Negaard has been selected to play in the Wyoming Coaches Foundation North/South All Star Games volleyball game on July 24 for the North team. She has also been selected as All Conference and All State for 2020 and was the Northeast Player of the Year for 2020. Annika Haugen and John Wacker, art students of Tobi Miller at Sundance Junior High, received state awards recently in the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Poppy Poster Contest. The College and Career Readiness Center of Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) celebrated the 2020-2021 HiSET high school equivalency graduation for five Crook County residents on June 24.
