"I was really pleased at how well this community came together to get this event back downtown. I was fortunate to step in...

  • Spring flood outlook lower than average

    Sarah Pridgeon|Feb 23, 2023

The snow may be coming down more often than it has over recent years, but the National Weather Service (NWS) is not predicting it will cause flooding when the spring arrives. According to the outlook for the Rapid City Hydrologic Service Area, the severe drought conditions that led into winter – along with lower streamflows and minimal frost – have reduced the chance for spring floods, despite the abundance of the snowpack. At this time, there is below average potential for flooding in northeastern Wyoming. The NWS predicts less than a 5% chanc...

  • Abortion bill's future uncertain in Senate

Maya Shimizu Harris, Casper Star-Tribune Via Wyoming News Exchange|Feb 23, 2023

CASPER — It’s unclear whether the Senate will get to debate the “Life is a Human Right” bill, the most ambitious and sweeping anti-abortion legislation the Wyoming Legislature has seen. Over a week after clearing the House in a 46-16 vote, House Bill 152 still hasn’t been assigned to a Senate committee for its first hearing in that chamber. Senate President Ogden Driskill, who is in charge of assigning bills to committees, told the Star-Tribune on Friday morning that he’s deliberating whether or not to bring the bill out of his drawer beca...

  • From the Desk of Senate President Ogden Driskill

    Ogden Driskill, Senator|Feb 23, 2023

With just a couple of weeks left of the Legislative Session, I am happy to report that good, steady work continues at the Capitol. This has been one of the smoother legislative sessions I have been a part of, and we have mostly been able to work out problems without too much hassle. I hope the House and the Senate will keep on finding ways to work together and compromise. If that happens, there is a chance we will get all of our work done early and come home. Updates on a few key bills follow:...

  • This Side of the Pond

    Feb 23, 2023

In my last column, I addressed for you the many perils of being a British person who doesn’t have access to adequate cutlery. This week, I wish to address another failing of my culture’s culinary talents. It’s a simple confession, but a sad one: We’re bad at Mexican food. Things have changed since I hopped the ocean, but growing up there wasn’t a decent taco to be found on the island. Throughout my childhood, there was a complete lack of takeout and restaurant options, so it was not a cuisine we were familiar enough with to even make it for ou...
