    As a relatively mild morning broke, runners gathered at the courthouse on Sunday to take part in the annual fun run appropriately named "Freeze Your Fanny". Of the brave souls who ran the four-mile course, the first across the finish line this year was Casey Nauta of Spearfish, SD, with a time of 25:57, followed by Harley Riveria in 26:01 and Justus Funk in 26:02.   • County moves ahead with pay policy

    Months of work and discussion have culminated in a proposed new salary policy for the county. If approved, the Crook County Compensation Plan will alter the way in which employee salaries and raises are determined. After taking time to review the new policy, the county commissioners plan to hold a public hearing on April 5 at 2:30 p.m., at which time they will consider whether to adopt it.     Cupid's arrows were pointed at Crook County seniors this Valentine's Day. Family Dollar, many volunteers and Crook County Senior Services, Inc. partnered up to disperse 250 Valentine's Day balloons and homemade valentines. Family Dollar customers purchased the balloons in Sundance. They sold out in just a few days. The staff blew up the balloons and had them all ready for Crook County Senior Services to disperse.     The Wyoming Public Service Commission (PSC) has granted permission for Powder River Energy (PRECorp) to increase its Cost of Power Adjustment (COPA) by $1,386,882 per annum to reflect a change in wholesale power costs. The effect of this will be a modest increase to residential monthly bills. In a second filing, the cooperative has also been given permission to increase the discount offered to members who have permanent electric resistance heat or electric heat pump space heating systems. Fern was born November 5, 1934, to Vernie and Florence Cordingly in Upton, Wyoming. She was the eighth of nine children. She grew up on the family ranch just south of Upton and graduated from Upton High School. On June 16, 1952, Fern married Kenneth Blakeman of Moorcroft, Wyoming. To this union, six children were born.     A Gillette woman has been given a suspended sentence on felony possession charges after marijuana was found during an investigation into a vehicle fire in Beulah.
