The Wyoming Game and Fish Department, in collaboration with the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory, is investigating a rare disease outbreak in pronghorn in northeast Wyoming. More than 50 animals have been found dead to date, north of Gillette beginning on Feb. 15. The preliminary results identify Mycoplasma bovis as the pathogen causing the mortalities. Claude Arthur “Art” Linklater was born on August 30, 1932. He was the son of Harry and Claudia Johnson Linklater, and raised on a ranch north of Hulett, WY that had been homesteaded by his dad. Art graduated from Hulett High School and attended the University of Wyoming for a short time before returning to the ranch. On June 2, 1954 he married the love of his life, Marge Thorne. College students and soon-to-be-graduates from Crook County’s schools are once again invited to apply for the annual Commissioner Scholarship Program, awarded on the base of need, academic standing and leadership qualities. Three scholarships per year are available to seniors in the amount of $1000. The commissioners aim to pick a candidate from each of the county’s three school zones. Two Sundance men have been arrested on fraud charges after allegedly writing a total of ten bad checks to businesses and entities within the City of Sundance. Robert Glenn faces a felony count of fraud, while both men have been charged with multiple misdemeanors. The Gillette-Campbell County Airport is undergoing a name change to reflect that it serves a larger area than its current moniker implies. According to a press release, the airport board has passed a resolution to change its name to Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport.
